The red tour, small group, with lunch

A minibus day around the north of Cappadocia: Uchisar Castle first, then Göreme Open Air Museum, Love Valley, Paşabağ, Avanos and Devrent, with lunch and museum tickets paid. Pick it for the museums and the guiding, not for the castle, which gets a short look before the day moves on.

Red (North) Tour, Small Group with Lunch

About this experience

Hereke Travel runs the most-reviewed red tour that stops at Uchisar: 2,296 reviews on Viator and a 5.0 average. The red (north) route is the classic first day in Cappadocia. A minibus collects you from your hotel, the guide talks you through the geology on the way, and you see the valleys and rock churches clustered north of Göreme without renting a car or juggling buses. Lunch at a Turkish restaurant and the entry fees are in the price, and the group stops at 15 people.

Be clear about the castle. The itinerary gives Uchisar Castle 15 minutes with "free admission", and that flag only means the operator charges you nothing for the stop. The castle itself has a ticket kiosk run by the Uçhisar municipality, reported at 320 to 400 TL in 2025-26, roughly €7 to €9, and the climb alone takes 10 to 15 minutes each way. In practice this is a photo stop: a walk around the base of the rock, into a few caves, and a look over the valley. One guest called it "a cool way to start with an easy walk around very interesting rock formations". If the summit matters to you, book the red tour with 55 minutes at the castle or walk up on your own another day.

What you pay for is everything else. The Göreme Open Air Museum (an hour, with its frescoed rock churches) and Paşabağ (50 minutes among the mushroom-capped chimneys) are both ticketed, and at 2026 gate prices those two cost a foreign visitor about €32 between them. Uchisar is easy to reach alone: it sits about 4 km from Göreme, an hour's walk up Pigeon Valley. Avanos, Paşabağ and Devrent are not, and that is the gap this tour fills. The $33 on the booking page is the per-person rate for the largest group size; a couple pays more each, and Viator shows the real figure once you enter 2 travellers.

  • Göreme Open Air Museum and Paşabağ tickets already paid
  • Lunch at a Turkish restaurant in the price (drinks extra)
  • Groups of 15 at most, with hotel pickup and drop-off
  • Six stops: Uchisar, Göreme, Love Valley, Paşabağ, Avanos, Devrent
  • 2,296 reviews and a 5.0 average on Viator

Tips before you book

  • Eat a proper breakfast. A guest warned that "lunch may not be until 2 pm, since more activities are before lunch".
  • Enter 2 travellers (or your real group size) before you compare prices: the $33 headline is the largest-group rate.
  • Expect the Avanos pottery stop and, according to one guest, a carpet store. Nobody has to buy; a polite no works.
  • Wear shoes with grip. The open-air museum has steps and the paths at Uchisar and Paşabağ are sandy.
  • Want the castle summit too? Walk up from Göreme through Pigeon Valley on a free morning, or read how the castle ticket works.

Frequently asked questions

Do you climb Uchisar Castle on this tour?

No. The stop is 15 minutes, which covers photos and a short walk among the caves at the foot of the rock. The climb to the top takes 10 to 15 minutes each way and needs a ticket from the castle kiosk, which this tour does not include.

Which entrance fees are included?

The listing covers "all fee and taxes" for the ticketed stops: the Göreme Open Air Museum and Paşabağ (the fairy chimneys stop). At 2026 gate prices that is about €20 plus €12 per foreign adult. Drinks at lunch are extra.

Why is the price higher than $33 when I book?

The tour has tiered pricing. $33 is the per-person rate for the largest group size, so two travellers pay more each. Viator shows the real price for your group once you enter the number of travellers.

Can children join?

Yes, from age 6. Ages 6 and 7 book at the child rate and 8+ as adults. The listing says it is not suitable for travellers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions, and it is not wheelchair accessible.
